ABC Sustainability Study Subcommittee

The ABC Sustainability Study Sub-Committee (SSC) was created as a result of multiple directives from the Conference since 2022. In response to a ballot proposal stating that the delegate meetings are facing a crisis shortage of volunteer support, the Conference authorized creation of a fast-tracked study on how to make delegate meetings sustainable. This includes presenting “a report to the 2025 ABC on an appropriate number of delegate meetings, strategies for maintaining volunteer support, and models to optimize [meeting] value and delegate experience.”

This is a major addition to the recent focus on the Conference Charter. The Committee has been tasked with a number of associated issues, but is intended to be consistent with the overarching goals of the ABC Study (“Charter”) Group, and reports to that Group for regular input and feedback, while being both meaningful for the Conference as a whole, and not derailing the Charter Study effort.

2024 ABC—
Motion: Authorize the ABC Committee to cancel up to two Quarterly Delegate Meetings (QDMs) between now and the 2025 ABC, if there is insufficient volunteer support, and direct the ABC Study Subcommittee to report to the 2025 ABC on an appropriate number of delegate meetings, strategies for maintaining volunteer support, and models to optimize the meetings’ value and delegate experience.
