There are two main literature development subcommittees:

  1. Little Big Red Book (LBRB). Led by Charlie H. This project is a condensed version of the BRB for newcomers. The subcommittee meets on the first Saturday of each month from 1-2:30 Eastern Time. Writers will submit drafts of their chapters in November 2018. We plan to have a draft available for fellowship visibility in Spring of 2019.
  2. Loving Parent Workbook (LPWB). Led by Bonnie M. This working group is closed, and are currently finalizing their outline.
  3. Sponsorship Led by Barb N. ABC delegates have asked for a literature review of Sponsorship. This is going to be a R&D effort to determine what has been learned over the past 35 years about the special co-sponsorship relationship model of the ACA Fellow Traveler, and how literature can be modified to clarify these roles.

The goals of the Sponsorship group are:

  1. To explore issues related to the mentoring and sponsorship of recovering adult children
  2. To deliver a report and action plan to WSO Board and ABC by 15 March 2018, and for posting on website
  3. To work with WSO Committees – Literature, Membership and Public Service, and other interested volunteers to turn the report’s findings into a reality.

The next Sponsorship group meeting is scheduled for Saturday, 3 November at 1:00 ET.

  1. Addressing Predatory Behavior (APB). Led by Josh W. Slack channel is #addr_predbehav_forum. The group is soliciting first-person accounts as well as Group and Intergroup experience, strength, and hope in dealing with Predatory Behavior in the fellowship. These will inform the committee’s work in developing literature and tools for the fellowship. The group plans to issue a special ComLinenewsletter devoted to identifying and dealing with Predatory Behavior issues in the fellowship.

The next APB meeting is scheduled for Thursday 18 October from 8:30-10:00 PM ET.

  1. ComLine quarterly newsletter. Led by Mardi M and Robin R. The most recent ComLine was issued on 1 October, concurrent with The Traveler e-newsletter, which is on the first day of each month. Mardi and Robin will be working with the Josh, the Chair of the APB group to issue a special ComLine devoted to aspects of Predatory Behavior.

The APB group will request submissions via The Travelere-newsletter for shares in the special APB issue of the ComLine, to be published in 2019. The group intends to address immediate short-term needs, including those that involve compromising individual/group safety and sponsorship.

The group will develop a timetable and a process, and envision that this will lead to meeting level literature updates.

  1. New Policy Guide for Translator Groups. Led by Majbrit M. The goal of this new policy is to coordinate translations and to simplify publishing. One example is that of coordinating the efforts of French translation groups in France and in Canada, and to ensure that translations are clear to global audiences.

Development of an ACA Bill of Rights was discussed. Several versions exist that are not WSO-approved literature. Is there a value to having this? What should be included? What would be superfluous?

Literature Development Policy. Language needs to be updated to be more reader-friendly, and to clarify requirements. Charlie H. will circulate the Literature Development Policy on the open Slack channel for discussion.

David McB introduced the potential need for a Therapists trifold that uses proper terminology relating to Adverse Childhood Experiences of Adult Children, and includes the ACA model of PTSD, childhood trauma, and the 12-step recovery process.
