The IGSC was formed "to coordinate communications between established Intergroups in order to provide support for one another, enable Intergroups to provide support more directly with understanding and participating in the support of the World Service Organization structure, and to explore how leadership and support from the WSO Board might better serve the fellowship via Intergroup activity"   We can be contacted directly at [email protected].

Intergroup Subcommittee Report

June 2017

(Report of April/May 2017)

There are currently about 74 Intergroups registered; recent additions include Finland (4/8), Southern Nevada (4/30), and Central New Jersey (5/13) .

At the ABC there was a lot of interest in Intergoups, and inquirers were invited to join the IG forum on Slack. Currently there are 44 participants in the IG Forum. Members are beginning to share Experience, Strength and Hope about various aspects of forming and operating Intergoups. Currently there is discussion about managing literature inventory & sales. As inquiries and conversations increased on Slack, they have decreased in the GoDaddy account. ([email protected])  IGs are beginning to add us to their mailing list for newsletters and announcements. The WSO office and other committees continue to copy us on relevant business.

Last week we sent out an email broadcast to the IG contact list with another invitation to join the Forum on Slack, and are already getting responses.

Intergroup Subcommittee Report

April 2017

(Report of February/March 2017)

As other committees prepare for the ABC there has been less activity for IGSC, though we continue to advise.  We have seen less email traffic at [email protected] this spring. (Feb: 17, Mar: 30) Most of the traffic was copied announcements from within WSO. We did respond to questions about ordering discount literature, as well as prospective Intergroups.

Currently there are 71 registered Intergroups. Two (2) were added this month for
Ukraine and Sacramento/Northern California.

Intergroup Subcommittee Report

February 2017

There was very little email traffic at [email protected] during the January. There were 9 incoming messages generating 5 responses. Much of the traffic was from within WSO, as well as 2 concerning new IGs, and a few listing updates.  The IG Forum on Slack has continued their discussion of IG websites. Several IGs have updated their contact info, so we want to send another invitation to the Forum. Some of our original committee members have not yet signed up. We’d like to loop them in again.

As the various committees meet in the run up to the ABC, there are often questions about the role of Intergroups. We’re hoping to leverage that interest to more local IGs being formed.

Intergroup Subcommittee Report

January 2017

There was very little email traffic at [email protected] during the months of November and December. There were 17 incoming messages generating 7 responses. Much of the traffic was from within WSO, as well as 2 concerning 2ew IGs, and a few listing   updates.  The IG Forum on Slack has been busier with IGs sharing about websites and meeting list formats and access.

Intergroup Subcommittee Report

November  2016

There was very little email traffic at [email protected] during the month of October. There were only 15 incoming messages generating three responses. Five internet service solicitations were forwarded to the website committee.  We continue to promote the IG Forum on Slack as a venue for sharing organizational ideas and experience. Some IGs have already begun posting about their structures, functions, procedures, by-laws, etc.

Currently we have 67 Intergroups registered, with 22 enrolled in the literature discount program.

Intergroup Subcommittee Report

October  2016

During the month of September email traffic at [email protected]  was down a bit with 37 incoming messages generating only 6 responses.   Much of the incoming traffic was cc’s of info relevant to Intergroups, such as registration or discount changes. (Thank you, Gloria)

Initial response to the SLACK Intergroup Forum has been disappointing, but we haven’t done much outreach yet. All in all it was a very slow month for IGSC.

Intergroup Subcommittee Report

September  2016

During the month of August email traffic at [email protected]  remained steady with 35 incoming messages generating 20 responses. Most involved new or updated registration information. In some areas new Intergroups seem to be registering without checking for and/or communicating with existing Intergroups.

We have begun passing on queries to the Forum for input.

Intergroup Subcommittee Report

August  2016

During the month of July email traffic at [email protected]  remained steady with 34 incoming messages generating 30 responses. Messages were pretty evenly divided between the discount and other literature matters, and new IGs and other registration issues.

Now that the call for proposals has gone out we hope to be a resource for IGs with questions about it.

It looks like two new IGs registered this month. We referred one to the European Committee for clarification of a duplicate listing in Germany. We continue to work on getting IGs to update their listings, as well as their affiliations.

We’re also trying to use Slack to organize another teleconference.

Intergroup Subcommittee Report

July 2016

During the month of June email traffic at [email protected]  remained steady with 45 incoming messages generating 28 responses.  An invitation to join the IG Forum on Slack was sent to all the IGs. (Thanks, Gloria!) Early response has been modest, as it is a new idea and technology.

Registration updates are now being copied to IGSC, thank you. It looks like two new IGs registered this month. We want to work on getting IGs to keep their listings current, an ongoing issue. We’ve had a few bounces as well as contacts telling us they are no longer active. Some IGs are not responding to emails, and phone numbers are no longer valid.

We’ve heard from several IGs as the bugs are worked out of the discount system, but they do seem to be resolving thanks to prompt resonse from the web servants.

We’re planning another teleconference this month, TBA.

Intergroup Subcommittee Report

June 2016

During the month of May email traffic at [email protected]  seems to have dropped off, with 39 incoming messages generating 23 responses. Of these 9 were forwarded to us through Denise. (Thank you!) There were a few listing questions and a few questions about organizing Intergroups. We did recieve notice of one new Intergroup as well as some updates. We hope to coordinate with the EC to enhance communication and service to Intergroups overseas.

Overall it has been a quiet month. We expect things to pick up after the forum invitation goes out.

Intergroup Subcommittee Report

May 2016

The report of contacts will now cover the calendar month of April, not the prior 30 days as in previous reports. Email traffic at [email protected] increased this month, with 89 incoming messages generating 39 responses. Only four were forwarded through Denise while direct contact through [email protected]  continues to increase. Most of the increase was generated by communication with the new MPS chair as well as preparation for and response to the ABC. Literature questions and database/listing issues are the most common concerns raised by the Intergroups. In particular individual IGs are occasionally dropped from the listings without apparent cause.

We have set up channels on the new ACAWSO Slack site: one private channel for conducting IGSC business and a public channel as an open forum for Intergroups. We have drafted an invitation to the forum to be emailed to Intergroups, and are awaiting directions for distribution. We thank the Board for this opportunity to address a long-felt need in the IG community.

We have received an updated IG contact list and are in the process of creating an updated address book on our GoDaddy (email) account.

We’re excited to see that the Intergroup Literature discount has launched.

The ABC served to raise the profile of IGSC within the fellowship. We are now looking forward to working with the new and newly revived WSO committees as well as encouraging IGs to participate in WSO service.

Intergroup Subcommittee Report

April 2016

Email traffic at [email protected] remains steady, with about 35 incoming messages generating about 26 responses. Only three were forwarded through Denise as direct contact through [email protected] becomes more common. A new page on the WSO website now provides this address, but it is difficult to find.

Several of us met last week via teleconference to discuss and set priorities. (Agenda and summary minutes are available.) We agreed to widen & focus our search for an electronic bulletin board or list-serve provider. We will likely need to use a unique domain name. Our intent is to eventually make a specific recommendation to the Board.

Listing problems seem greatly decreased since the introduction of email confirmations. There were still one or two pre-existing problems to sort out. We are considering an attempt to contact & confirm Intergroup listings, perhaps with a new invitation to participate in our subcommittee. We would welcome input from the European Committee on this.

New IGs are continuing to form and we are working on ways to receive their information more efficiently so we can welcome them to our committee and get them involved.

We wish to provide an email notice to be sent to Intergroups announcing the Second Quarter ComLine.

 Looking forward to the ABC!

Intergroup Subcommittee Report

March 2016

Email traffic at [email protected] remains steady, with about 30 incoming messages and about 26 responses. Only six were forwarded through Denise as direct contact through [email protected] increases.

There was another inquiry about defining an Intergroup’s service area. I anticipate more of these as the discount rolls out.

Several IGs have inadvertently created a double listing when attempting to update their information. It seems the online form defaults to a new registration unless they manually change it when filling out the form. When noted these were promptly corrected. Waiting times for listings/updates have decreased in general, and at least one IG gratefully noted receiving a confirmation message for their update.  Another IG’s listing seems to have been mistakenly deleted, perhaps mistakenly by the group during an update?

We assume new IGs continue to form, but we still don’t get notification of new registrations.

We are exploring outside venues for committee teleconferencing as well an IG list-serve.

As always, IGSC welcomes all questions and input about or from IGs worldwide. We can be reached directly at [email protected].

Intergroup Subcommittee Report

February 2016

Email traffic at [email protected] remains steady, with 24 incoming messages, (9 forwarded thru MPS) and 22 responses.

Problems with Group and Intergroup listings and registrations continue, with long delays the most common. Several Intergroups have written to us asking for confirmation of their registration. Unfortunately, we don’t yet have access to that information.  (How can we get that data?)

New Intergroup registrations seem to be up. There was some confusion when different parties wanted to confirm each other’s registration. As best as I can tell, they have each registered, sort of next door to each other. They may be courting the same constituency, but we’re confident that will sort itself out in time.

With new Intergroups, groups newly affiliating with Intergroups, and the bottleneck with registrations and updates, it is becoming more difficult for Intergroups to verify their affiliates.

There was one complaint from an Intergroup that they could not find a link or listing to the IGSC email, [email protected], on the website, and had to be routed through several parties to get to us.

We are seeking support from WSO in creating a forum, message board or other appropriate online platform for the use of registered Intergroups in sharing their experience, strength and hope with each other.

Intergroup Subcommittee Report

January 2016

The most common concerns in messages forwarded or copied to IGSC this month:

Literature discount, Shipping, Registrations, Locating Intergroups, and New IG representatives introducing themselves/asking questions

25 total emails were received (at [email protected]) generating 13 responses over approximately 7 distinct exchanges. 7 were forwarded from MPS by Denise.

We engaged LitCom with suggestions for the IG discount roll-out announcement .

We would like to notify the IGs that the new ComLine is available.

May we be notified when a new IG registers? Then we could reach out and invite their participation in IGSC.

Intergroup Subcommittee Report

December, 2015

The most common concerns in messages forwarded or copied to IGSC this month:

Literature discount, Shipping, Registrations, Locating Intergroups, and New IG representatives introducing themselves/asking questions

Messages sent directly to IGSC were mostly announcements/requests copied to us from around the fellowship.

21 total emails were received generating 13 responses over approximately 6 distinct exchanges.

New messages forwarded to IGSC are running more than 2:1 over messages sent directly to [email protected]. Would a direct link in the “Contact Us” dropdown menu make us more accessible and possibly ease Denise’s workload?

We welcome John from PA IG to the committee. Thank you, John.

Intergroup Subcommittee Report

November, 2015

It’s been a busy month for Intergroups. (IGs) Since last month there have been 4 new IGs registered, including the only telephone IG (US based, in English) and Australia’s fourth IG. There were also at least 3 inquiries about starting one. 4 messages were forwarded to IGSC through the office and about 5 new inquiries directly to [email protected]. Total traffic through that address has been about 35 incoming and 25 outgoing messages.

The new IG literature discount seems to be encouraging allot of new IG activity as well as the most questions. The IGs have also experienced difficulty/delays in processing registration and updates, and there is some overlap.

We wish to confirm that an IG may request full orders be shipped to any address. For example, Lone Star (IG#600) might place one order to be shipped to an Austin address and a separate order shipped to San Antonio. If course, each order would be placed and paid by the IG’s Designated Trusted Servant for full-box orders.

There were also questions about Post Office box deliveries, physical v. internet addresses, and IG geography in general. Since the new website launched last year changes in the registration form have caused some difficulties for IGs.

Our next task is to develop some sort of internet space where IGs can communicate directly with us and each other, a forum to facilitate the sharing of Experience, Strength and Hope among IGs. We have considered several options and would like to discuss their feasibility with Scott before bringing one to the Board for consideration.

IGSC welcomes all questions and input about or from IGs worldwide. We can be reached directly at [email protected].

Respectfully submitted,

Bonnie K-M
