LITERATURE COMMITTEE REPORT FOR
APRIL 2016

CALL FOR LITERATURE COMMITTEE VOLUNTEERS! TRANSLATORS, WRITERS, EDITORS, PROOFREADERS, ILLUSTRATORS, GRAPHIC DESIGNERS, LAYOUT SPECIALISTS, AND PHOTOGRAPHERS WANTED!

We have a lot of exciting projects in the works – including an enthusiastic team of volunteers to help us shape the future of ACA.

Local Literature Distribution Network We now offer a 30% discount price plant for ACA literature – this discount is exclusively for registered ACA Intergroups. This discount will allow ACA Intergroups to service their local groups’ literature needs while providing the Intergroups an opportunity to generate a small revenue stream to fund outreach efforts and their operations. It will also hopefully attract newcomers to the meetings where they can buy literature inexpensively, and possibly be inspired to stay for a meeting. It may also help reduce the number of small orders received by the Literature Distribution Center. We will have winners all around!

For more information on the Special Intergroup Discount and minimum purchase requirements, see https://www.acawso.org/literature-committee/519-special-intergroup-discount-roll-out

We held a quarterly literature committee meeting on Sunday, April 3, and 23 attendees were present. This meeting was to provide an overview of the Literature Development Policy Statement, the Literature Queue 2014–2017, the Literature Production Queue, and ACoA recovery process materials. Agenda items include formalizing literature sub-committees with specific objectives, e.g., Spanish sub-committee, ComLine sub-committee, production sub-committee to oversee translation verification, printing, and distribution outside the US. Discussion of 17 items submitted for review; research and development of current and new projects.

The next Literature Committee Meeting is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, July 10 at 15:30 CEST.

H&I Guidelines

H&I Guidelines are published as a free download, and are included as part of the new meeting packet.

Literature Evaluation Subcommittee

The new Literature Evaluation Subcommittee is now formed and ready for action. They are starting on their first of 14+ pieces of literature to evaluate. The evaluation subcommittee developed review criteria guidelines for determining if a piece is submitted for publication addresses the needs of the fellowship worldwide, and if it is marked by clarity, cohesion, and practicality. They will be reviewing literature submitted by groups and Intergroups. The first item under review is “Ready, Set, GO!!”.

ComLine

The ComLine has celebrated its one-year anniversary of renewal. We offer it quarterly. Working on the ComLine is both challenging and rewarding. We would like a new volunteer to assume the role of Editor/Editor in Chief.

The ComLine is offered quarterly, with the focus of each issue as follows:

  • January – March (1st Quarter), Steps 1, 2, 3 and Traditions 1, 2, 3
  • April – June (2nd Quarter) Steps 4, 5, 6 and Traditions 4, 5, 6
  • July – September (3rd Quarter), Steps 7, 8, 9 and Traditions 7, 8, 9
  • October – December (4th Quarter) Steps 10, 11, 12 and Traditions 10, 11, 12

Currently we are looking for stories of experience, strength, and hope to publish in the ComLine newsletter. We would especially appreciate shares from adult children from around the world. Please share in the language of your childhood; we will publish your share in your language.

The 2nd Quarter ComLine is available for download, and we are accepting submissions for the 3rd Quarter 2016 issue. This covers July, August, and September. All submissions for the 3rd Quarter issue should be submitted by May 31, 2016.

Previous ComLine issues are downloadable for free from http://www.adultchildren.org/comline.

Translations

We are focusing almost all of our energy on outside US literature fulfillment solutions. All tri-folds and booklets offered for sale in the shopping cart have been translated into the Danish, Spanish, Finnish, and Russian. Prepress (layout, formatting, and quality checks prior to printing) is in process.

The Russian translation group has completed the BRB translation into Russian. It is now in verification prior to production.

The Greek translation group completed translation of Strengthening My Recovery, and is working on the BRB.

The Finnish WB verification is complete and it is in the print queue.

We continue to add new and updated translations to the free literature for download page. See translations available for download for free at http://www.adultchildren.org/non-english-literature.

Twelve Steps Workbook Update

The review period for updating the workbook is now closed. All submitted changes/updates to the workbook will be reviewed by the Literature Evaluation subcommittee.
